Ask yourself these questions: "How can I be sure that I have accurate information when I compare year-to-year periods of energy consumption for my facility? We have developed a economical program that takes into consideration the effects of outside temperature variations, to provide more accurate year-to-year comparison of energy consumption data. It is called Weather Normalization. Utilizing the example below, the graph on the left is a simple monthly comparison of kWh consumption on an annual basis. It would appear that consumption has increased from 2010 to 2011. However, that can be misleading, as the effects of climate have not been taken into consideration. Utilizing degree day data, the graph on the right actually illustrates that energy was more efficiently used in the same comparison period.
